The ERT National Symphony Orchestra and Choir, in collaboration with four internationally acclaimed soloists, present Giuseppe Verdi’s monumental Requiem on Holy Monday at the Stavros Niarchos Hall.

The leading composer of Italian Romanticism set the Catholic Mass for the Dead to music in a profoundly moving and dramatic way, placing the human experience at its very core.

First performed in Milan in 1874, Verdi’s Requiem is widely regarded as one of the most iconic works in the symphonic and choral repertoire. Marked by powerful drama and deep emotional intensity, it combines the grandeur of sacred music with the theatricality of opera, capturing in a unique way the awe, fear, and hope that accompany reflections on human mortality. From the commanding Dies Irae to the most introspective moments of contemplation, the work remains one of the most moving musical experiences in the Western classical tradition.
